Tour Information about Lucknow

Lucknow is the capital of Uttar Pradesh, India.Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, thrives along the banks of Gomti river. The city, Awadh and Uttar Pradesh fell to the British during imperialistic era . Today, Lucknow is dotted with remnants of its rich cultural past.

Lucknow is also known for its elaborate cuisine and Chikankaari or exquisite shadow-work embroidery on fine muslin cloth.

Lucknow is a historically important city and for many centuries was at the heart of North Indian culture. In particular, the city was famous for its Adab and Tehzeeb (manners and hospitality), intricate embroidery, beautiful gardens and dance forms such as Kathak.

But Lucknow's Nawabi tehzeebis known all-over. But what you see today is distinctly modern. Amid the mosques, Imambaras and the flowing Gomti are lanes that showcase multiplexes and modern high-rises. But move away for a moment from these and the city will take you back to the days of royalty. Those who were great connoisseurs of food and architecture, the Nawabs, left us the gift of such cuisines from their own Nawabi kitchens that still leave you stupefied. Lucknow's Urdu is still as soft as you can imagine. The city could well be divided into three distinct characters-that which still, in most parts, belongs to the Nawabs; second, which is distinctly colonial and the modern third, which they all swear, you can give a pass. As you walk through the giant edifices that seem to stare at you, remind yourself that Lucknow is simply what you want it to be and what you really discover.
